Evolutionary Logic of the Independent Knowledge System of Information Resources Management Discipline in China Driven by Practical Innovation

Abstract: Constructing an independent knowledge system for the discipline of Information Resources Management (IRM) in China represents a major task of the times, guided by Chinese modernization and grounded in the law of discipline development. This study addresses a series of progressive questions in knowledge production:"where knowledge comes from, how it grows, and how it evolves." Drawing on the practical characteristics of the development of the IRM discipline in China, it takes the interaction between practice and knowledge as the central theoretical thread and proposes an evolutionary framework of "generation–application–transmission–regeneration" for the independent knowledge system of IRM discipline. On this basis, the study examines the mechanisms across different stages of knowledge evolution, including the mechanisms of historical accumulation and strategic driving in the generation stage, contextual embedding, application validation, and feedback optimization in the application stage, pedagogical transformation, capability internalization, and intergenerational transmission in the transmission stage, as well as critical reflection and interdisciplinary integration in the regeneration stage. This study systematically reveals the evolutionary logic of the independent knowledge system of IRM discipline under the impetus of practice-driven innovation. It aims to deepen the theoretical understanding of this evolutionary process and to provide an analytical framework for constructing a China-oriented path toward the independent knowledge system.
