Abstract: This study explores the evolutionary pathway and methodology of constructing an independent knowledge system for the discipline of Information Resources Management in China from 1978 to 2025. It proposes analyzing disciplinary autonomy through four dimensions: the knowledge core, methodology, norms, and discourse. The study reveals that this autonomy has undergone a dialectical developmental process, evolving from "ontological consciousness" to "methodological self-reliance", and finally toward "paradigmatic guidance". The study indicates that the discipline's autonomy is rooted in the dual drivers of national strategic demands and complex local practices, and is realized through specific pathways such as technological absorption and local adaptation, as well as the integration of theoretical reflection and engineering practice, ultimately aiming to serve national development and engage in global academic dialogue.
