Abstract:

This study reviews 53 research papers about online video broadcasting, and analyzes their research themes, methods, and platforms. Future research directions are also discussed. It is found that the themes of current research contains 8 main categories, among which video delivery, website design, user behavior and motivations of users are the most common ones. Twitch.tv, Periscope and YouTube Live are the main platforms. The most popular methods are empirical research, technical design and simulation. Under the current research framework,the future studies should pay more attention to specific user groups, the personalization of online video broadcasting and possible applications of online video broadcasting in other fields.
