Abstract:

This article tries to draw the profile for the field of medicine and discuss the growth and development trends in the medical field from the perspective of human anatomy. Firstly, we take the “Anatomy Category” in MeSH as basic words, with which SnoMed CT, UMLS, and CHV are used as extensions for Synonymous mapping; then, we collect the whole PubMed articles published between 1809-2016 as experiment dataset, and we descript the field of medicine from the dimensions of the whole, system, organ and disease by using statistical indexes like the “absolute frequency” and “relative frequency” of anatomy words and visualization methods like heatmap, human figure. The results show that with the evolution of medical science integration, anatomy vocabularies transferred from isolated knowledge point to multi-functions. Furthermore, the subject profile of medical science can also display disclosure of medical science results, alteration of study directions and disease exploration depth.
