Abstract: This article introduces the Vertical Social Networking sites by means of listing a few typical examples. Comparing the users’ different experience of using Vertical Social Networking Sites and general Social Networking Sites with the method of open interviews, the article draws a conclusion about the characteristics of Vertical Social Networking Sites. The authors hold the opinion that Vertical Social Networking Sites reveal the Effect of Longtail. As time goes by, the Social Networking Sites themselves will be characterized as verticalization, mobile, and fragmentation.
