Abstract: This article introduces the Vertical Social Networking sites by means of listing a few typical examples. Comparing the users’ different experience of using Vertical Social Networking Sites and general Social Networking Sites with the method of open interviews, the article draws a conclusion about the characteristics of Vertical Social Networking Sites. The authors hold the opinion that Vertical Social Networking Sites reveal the Effect of Longtail. As time goes by, the Social Networking Sites themselves will be characterized as verticalization, mobile, and fragmentation.
