The Overall Situation of Major Social Trends Under Big Data Analysis:Take Populism as an Example

Abstract:

This paper uses Google Books corpus and Wikipedia corpus as data sources, and analyzes the long-term historical evolution cycle of Populism trends and recent changes with the help of big data analysis methods. At the same time, it analyzes the social trends closely related to Populism by correlation analysis and time series analysis. We find that: (1) From the perspective of long-term evolution, the rise of Populism has an international dissemination process. It had spread in individual countries in Europe at first, and later spread to many countries in Europe and the United States; There is a clear correlation between the rise of Populism and Economic Crisis; The social influence of Populism on the European must be significantly greater than that of the United Kingdom and the United States; (2) The social influence of Populism was at a low level before 2016, while it has been significantly enhanced after 2016; (3) Populism and Nationalism have a strong correlations ,but Nationalism and Democracy have far greater influence than Populism.
