Abstract:

This paper aims to extend the h-index to evaluate influences of campus micro-blogs to overcome the disadvantages of employing single indicators to assess influences, such as counts of retweets and comments, average counts of retweets and so forth. A novel evaluation system was proposed to improve methods of evaluating micro-blogs’ influence based on the h-index. Micro-blog posts by ten typical campus micro-bloggers and 100 most popular ones on Sina Weibo were taken as experimental samples and popular posts were categorized into nine classes. Effectiveness of the developed micro-blog influence assessment method was verified and thematic characteristics of popular posts were analyzed.
