Social Media as Information Sources: Use Preference, Motivations and Evaluative Actions

Abstract:

The development of social media fosters more and more users to use social media as information sources. To investigate use preference, motivations and evaluation actions of the use of social media, this study attempts to focus on Wikipedia, online Q&A, blog, microblog, social networks and Wechat, using data from 208 undergraduates to explore the above mentioned questions. Results reveal the differences among undergraduates’ usage of these social media as information sources.
