Abstract: The pandemic of COVID-19 is profoundly changing European society. Big data has highlighted the problem of data protection in Europe. Research on the new situation of Europol data protection will help to further strengthen relevant predictions. Starting from Europol’s existing data protection mechanism, including data evaluation mechanism, data protection officer mechanism, supervision mechanism and dispute handling mechanism, we can further analyze relevant data in the context of the combination of epidemic and big data. It is found that the COVID-19 epidemic has derived new impetus for data protection, namely the new normal of European society, digital sovereignty, regulatory issues and digital standards. Based on this, Europol has formed a "four new" model of New norms, New technologies, New tools and New ideas on the data protection mechanisms. This model has certain enlightening significance for other countries and institutions.
