Abstract: It is the main problem in economic and social development to manage information resources. Unified management on dispersive information resources with metadata standards has been applied into more and more fields. This article researched the characteristics of metadata standards of different fields and Its application in exploring information resources according to the demand of information resources management on the metadata technology and stardards. This article analyzed the challenges from metadata technology and standards,such as interoperability in the future,and put forward some suggestions such as perfecting the construction of metadata standards system,further researching metadata classifying,and etc.
