Abstract: This paper used literature review method to overviews studies of the definition, characteristics, diffusion models，detection and dispersion mechanism of online rumors source from the CNKI and Web of Science. We summarize the existing research findings and limitations. “Universal online rumor diffusion models”, “efficient rumor detection scheme”，“self-disappearance mode of online rumors for China”, “new refutation mechanism of online rumors in big data environment” are key points for domestic future research based on the research results.
