Abstract:

Scientific literature management tools originated in reference management software. With the development of innovative information services, the core functionality is expanded to help users simplify the tedious labor work, and improve efficiency in the R&D work. From the point of view of information resources sharing, a worldwide user survey was conducted, intending to examine researchers’ need of scientific literature management tools, preferences, and their use of the core functionality of the instruments. The survey received 75 copies of feedback from 25 countries. By analysing of feedback results, the selection and utilization characteristics of users on scientific literature management tools were found, and obstacles to use these tools were discussed with suggestion for innovative information services.
