Abstract: On the occasion of foundation of Journal of Information Resources Management in China, it is discussed in this paper that how we should understand the discipline of Information Resources Management at present. The point of view is to regard it as a management discipline based on a new management philosophy and resource view, which inherits and develops Management Information System (MIS) and traditional Information Management. Then the orientation and area of contents of the journal are discussed, and suggestions and expectations are proposed, which are learned from a foreign journal of the same name.
