Abstract: Based on CiteSpace, this paper sorted out the development status and trends in telemedicine research in China from CSSCI, Chinese core journals and CSCD from 1900 to 2019. Results showed that: (1) The total amount of publication in this field can be divided into three stages: initial stage, development stage and rapid development stage; (2) The core authors in this field have formed a major co-authorship networks but the core author group has not yet formed; (3)The research institutions also have formed a major cooperative clusters, but researches among institutions are still relatively scattered; (4) Keywords such as “telemedicine”, “telemedical” and “remote consultation” have a high frequency and intermediary centrality; (5) Researches in this field mainly concentrate on the status and future direction of telemedicine and its subdivisions, the mechanism and current situation of the combination of Internet and traditional medical service mode, and the implementation of hierarchical diagnosis and suggestions; (6) “Mobile health”, “internet +” and “health management” is the key word representing the latest trend in this field.
