Implications of the European Collected Library of Artistic Performance for the Digital Resource Preservation of Chinese Cultural Heritages

Abstract:

Cultural heritages are of significant value to human beings. The construction of digital resources of cultural heritages has been widely carried out in developed countries and their experiences can be learned to preserve digital resources of cultural heritages in China. A case study on the European Collected Library of Artistic Performance was conducted and its features were concluded as: the flat organizational structure and efficient flexible management mode, the dynamic model of collection development, the open construction concept, the diverse ways of resource retrieval and browsing, and the distinctive metadata standard. Then, implications for the digital resource preservation of Chinese cultural heritages were summarized based on the analyses above.
